This book entitled ‘Application of Nanotechnology in Food Science, Processing and Packaging’ presents up-to-date information on the emerging roles of nanotechnology in food industry, its fundamental concepts, techniques and applications. The application of nanotechnology in the food industry is an emerging area which has found tremendous use in improving food quality through the enhancement of food taste, texture, colour, and flavour. Also, its application has improved the bioavailability and target delivery of certain bioactive food ingredients through controlled release of nutrients, a feature that is impossible with the conventional methods of food processing. The application of nanotechnology in food packaging for the detection of contaminants, pathogens, biotoxins and pesticides through nanosensor safety evaluations has led to the increase in shelf-life of products and quality assurance through the detection and monitoring of toxins. Chukwuebuka Egbuna is a chartered chemist, a chemical analyst, and academic researcher. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON), the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), the Society of Quality Assurance (SQA) (USA), and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) (United Kingdom). Egbuna is also an editor of new Elsevier series on Drug Discovery Update. The series includes books, monographs and edited collections from all areas of drug discovery, including emerging therapeutic claims for the treatment of diseases. He has also edited books with Springer Nature on functional foods and nutraceuticals and John Wiley on poisonous plants and phytochemicals. He has been engaged in a number of roles at New Divine Favor Pharmaceutical Industry Limited, Akuzor Nkpor, Anambra State, Nigeria, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Nigeria. He has collaboratively worked and published quite a number of research articles in the area of phytochemistry, nutrition and toxicology and related areas. He is a reviewer and editorial board member of various journals, including serving as a website administrator for the Tropical Journal of Applied Natural Sciences (TJANS), a journal of the faculty of Natural Sciences, COOU and as an advisory board member under toxicology for the book publisher, Cambridge Scholar Publishing. His primary research interests are in phytochemistry, nutrition and toxicology, food and medicinal chemistry, and analytical biochemistry.
Jaison Jeevanandam
CQM – Centro de Química da Madeira, Universidade da Madeira, Campus da Penteada, 9020-105 Funchal, Portugal.Dr. Jaison Jeevanandam obtained his Ph.D. at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Science from Curtin University, Malaysia. His Ph.D. project is on ‘Novel nanomedicine for reversing insulin resistance in Type 2 diabetes’ which involved cross-disciplinary research between physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and engineering. He has experience in nanoparticle synthesis, especially in green synthesis using plant extracts, characterization, cytotoxic analysis of nanoparticles, and also in vitro diabetic models. His current research focuses on the application of bionanotechnology in the fabrication of nanoformulation for efficient delivery of food bioactives and drugs for the treatment of several diseases, especially diabetes. Dr. Jaison has authored over 80 publications including original research articles, books and book chapters. He has edited a book entitled ‘Research advances in Dynamic Light Scattering’ for Nova Science Publishers. Dr. Jaison also serves as an editor for few Elsevier books as well as 2 monographs. He is a recipient of many awards and has presented papers in both local and international conferences. Currently, he is a senior researcher at CQM – Centro de Química da Madeira, Universidade da Madeira, Campus da Penteada, Funchal, Portugal.
Kingsley C. Patrick-Iwuanyanwu

Dr. Kingsley Chukwuemeka Patrick-Iwuanyanwu is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry. Dr. Patrick-Iwuanyanwu is a recipient of The World Academy of Science- International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (TWAS-ICCBS) Postgraduate fellowship award in 2009 to University of Karachi, Pakistan. He was among the 100 young scientists from around the world selected to attend The World Life Sciences Forum by BioVision (Lyon, France); He is a recipient of Society of Toxicology (SOT) /AstraZenecca IUTOX fellowship award in 2009. He served as a pioneer African representative and one of the founding Executive Members of Student Advisory Council (SAC) of Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC, EUROPE) from 2009-2011. Dr. Patrick-Iwuanyanwu is a member of several professional bodies including Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB); Africa Education Initiative (NEF, CT. USA); West African Society of Toxicology (WASOT); Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC, Europe); Society of Toxicology (SOT, Reston, USA); Society for Experimental Biology (SEB, UK).

Onyeike is working as a Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Chemical Sciences, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. His international experience includes various programs, contributions and participation in different countries for diverse fields of study. Professor Onyeike has supervised many M.Sc and Ph.D students among whom are now professors in various universities. His research interests reflect in his wide range of publications in various national and international journals. He is an editorial board member of many journals and serves as a member of various associations, apart from being an author for many books.

Diritto legale di recesso
Hai il diritto di recedere dal presente contratto entro 14 giorni senza fornire alcuna motivazione.
Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.
Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).
Per rispettare il termine di recesso, è sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso stesso.
Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).
Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.
Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.
Il rimborso sarà effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.
Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finché non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finché non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.
Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a BuchWeltWeit Ludwig Meier e.K., Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volontà di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine è rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.
Eccezioni al diritto di recesso
Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:
- La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
- La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.
