Barry Rowe is in a long tradition of English artists focused on the car. His bold style emphasizes atmosphere and light. Almost all his paintings show warmth, which reflects his love for dawn and dusk. His technique involves layering colors to get interesting contrasts and underpainting in dark tones, "I also try and paint pictures as opposed to car illustrations. Many are landscapes with cars that just happen to be in them."
