THIS BOOK IS THE TALE OF A SEVERELY DERANGED YOUNG MAN WHO COMMITTED THE MOST SHOCKING CRIME IN CHICAGO'S LONG LIST OF HORRENDOUS SERIAL MURDERS. IN A SINGLE NIGHT, AN ATTEMPTED BURGLARY TURNED INTO THE MURDER OF EIGHT INNOCENT PHILLAPINE STUDENT NURSES IN THEIR APARTMENT DORNMITORY. THE MAN, RICHARD SPECK, HAD A LONG HISTORY OF CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR, THE TALE IS TOLD BY A PRISON PSYCHIATRIST, DR. MARVIN ZIPORYN WHO INTERVIEWED SPECKT MULTIPLE TIMES OVER SEVERAL YEARS WHILE SPECK WAS IN PRISON. DR. MARVIN. ZIPORYN TEAMED UP WITH A "TIME" MAGAZINE REPORTER TO PROVIDE THIS ACCOUNT OF SPECK'S PSYCHOLOGICAL ABERRATIONS. SPECK WAS IDENTIFIED BY A SOLE SURVIVING STUDENT NURSE WHO HAD HIDDEN UNDERNEATH A BED AS THE MURDERS WERE COMMITTED OVER SEVERAL HOURS DURING THE NIGHT. THERE ARE 18 B/W PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE MURDERED STUDENTS AND SPECK. SPECK DIED OF A HEART ATTACK AFTER 25 YEARS IN PRISON.
