Don E. Canfield is Professor of Ecology at the University of Southern Denmark and Director of the Nordic Center for Earth Evolution. He is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and has previously published Oxygen: A Four Billion Year History (2014) and Aquatic Geomicrobiology (2005), and was co-editor of Fundamentals of Geobiology (Wiley-Blackwell, 2012).
