The delightful Barnyard Buddies engage everyone as they show how to use peaceful conflict resolution and dialogue for problem-solving! This rhyming, richly illustrated children's book, for ages 3 to 8, conveys important social skills and anger management tools. With a wonderful Parent and Educator Guide, and a complete Mentor Program Guide included, this is a comprehensive smart tool! Plus, kids love it!
The Barnyard Buddies are angry because King is taking all the space under the shelter. After they stop and breathe, and get guidance from a wise owl, they can hear how King is hurt and lonely and solve the problem. Children develop skills for anger management, empathy, and compassion. Keys to success in life.
Children relate to the loveable characters, whose emotions are charmingly revealed by artist Jorry Keith. The heartfelt way Julie Penshorn presents this topic, the sensitive illustrations, and the music that supports the learning, make this book a children’s favorite!
The cornerstone for the entire "STOP for Peace" process is S, STOP and breathe. Peace is only possible when all have cooled off and embraced the insights provided by anger management, then they can dialogue about their other emotions in step T, Tell how you feel. O, Open your mind (brainstorm) and P, Plan a deal are the remaining steps. When people can safely speak from their hearts, they find solutions that work for all. That’s the sign of successful conflict resolution!
Music notation for the “STOP for Peace” song is included, to reinforce the learning. "I STOP for Peace" companion CD, also by Julie Penshorn, is available through the publisher and other outlets (look for it on the site you are on right now!) where music is sold. The music builds the skills and carries them deep into the brain so they are never forgotten.
Add an extra book to your cart to give to a teacher, a neighbor, faith-community, or a friend! Help your child experience a safer, friendlier, classroom environment.
Share "The Barnyard Buddies STOP for Peace"! Your review can make a difference, as the more children exposed to these skills, the better the environment for your child/ren, and the more peaceful our shared future.

Informazioni sull’autore
Co-authors, and co-directors of Growing Communities for Peace, Rebecca Janke, M.Ed and Julie Penshorn, MBC, are thought leaders within the children's peace education field. They have had a fascinating journey, beginning with a focus on conflict resolution skills education, complete with hands-on-learning tools, and now introducing children's books and music along with a blog-based approach to the creation of a culture of peace. The ChildrensPeaceEducationCompany.com online learning site provides selected original and curated resources in the areas of peacemaking, peacebuilding and peacekeeping, the three pillars for growing a culture of peace. The primary focus of Children's Peace Education Company is writing young children's stories through the inspiration of advanced peace education topics usually reserved for adults. This allows children to get an early start, when these concepts and ways of thinking can become part of who they are. In addition, the site provides material focused on parenting matters, pedagogic excellence, art of dialogue, curriculum infusion techniques, and examples of peace of in action. It began in 1990, when Rebecca was the owner and director of a private Montessori PreK-3rd grade school that became uniquely known in the region of Western Wisconsin for its specialty in peace education. Inspired by Gandhi and Montessori who believed that if we are to have real peace in the world we must begin with children, she trained her staff of 10 to infuse peace education principles into existing curriculum. Rebecca has continued as a peace educator since then in many capacities including as the President of Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers and a thought leader and valued contributor as a mentor for teachers.
Jorry Keith is a storyboard artist, illustrator, and instructor. She is the writer and illustrator of the comic book, Seafoam: A Friend for Madison. A strong believer in the arts, and its importance in children's lives, Jorry runs several community-based art classes that guide children through the process of writing and drawing their own comics and books.
