Für moderne Ingenieurdisziplinen wie die Mechatronik werden Modellbildung und Simulation technischer Systeme immer wichtiger. Klassische Methoden sind wenig intuitiv, mathematiklastig und nicht objektorientiert. Den Bondgraphen kann man ohne Kenntnis des mathematischen Modells direkt in ein grafisches Simulationssystem eingeben, das automatisch das mathematische Modell generiert. Die Objektorientierung unterstützt sehr gut die Anschaulichkeit des Modells und erleichtert das Systemverständnis des Anwenders. Insbesondere in der Mechatronik, in der häufig Multidomänen-Systeme zu modellieren sind, hat diese Methode daher große Vorteile.
