Iceland is a land of stories; from the epic sagas of its mythic past, to its claim today of being home to more writers, more published books and more avid readers, per head, than anywhere in the world. As its capital (and indeed only city), Reykjavik has long been an inspiration for these stories. But, as this collection demonstrates, this fishing-village-turned-metropolis at the farthest fringe of Europe has been both revered and reviled by Icelanders over the years. The tension between the city and the surrounding countryside, its rural past and urban present, weaves its way through The Book of Reykjavik, forming an outline of a fragmented city marked by both contradiction and creativity. Becca joined Comma Press after her undergraduate degree at Lancaster University. Whilst at university she was the Editor of both Cake Magazine and Flash Journal. She is Engagement Manager at Comma Press, a trustee of Manchester Literature Festival and is also the co-editor of The Book of Tbilisi, The Book of Riga and The Book of Reykjavik. ��rarinn Eldj�rn (b. 1949) is an Icelandic writer, particularly well known in Iceland for his humorous poetry books for children. Fri�geir Einarsson is the author of the critically acclaimed short story collection Thanks for Letting Me Know and the novel The Chairman of the Housing Association. Fr��a �sberg (b. 1992) is an Icelandic author and poet based in Reykjav�k. She has three books published; the short story collection Kl��i (2018), which was shortlisted for The Icelandic Women's Literature Prize 2019 for Fiction, and poetry collections Le�urjakkave�ur (2019) and Slitf�rin (2017) which won The Icelandic Booksellers Choice Award for Poetry 2017 and the Grassroots Grant from the Icelandic Literature Center 2017. Fr��a is a member of the Icelandic poetry collective Svikask�ld (e. The Imposter Poets). She occasionally writes reviews for The Times Literary Supplement. Gu�r�n Eva M�nervud�ttir (1976) was born in Reykjavik and spent her childhood partly in the city, partly in various villages around the country. In her youth she was a cow-herdess, sheep-minder and bartender. After publishing her first book in 1998 (While He Looks at You, You Are Virgin Mary) she became a full-time writer, surviving on book sales and state grants. She has now written and published nine novels and two collections of short stories. Since 2010 she has tought creative writing in The Iceland Academy of the Arts. Her work has been translated into several languages. Vera J�l�usd�ttir is a translator and filmmaker. Her translations of Icelandic short stories appeared in elsewhere; stories from small town Europe and Decapolis that were published by Comma Press. Vera has lived in Minneapolis and London, and now lives and works in Reykjavik. Andri Sn�r Magnason (b. 1973) is an Icelandic writer. He has written novels, poetry, plays, short stories, and essays. His work has been published or performed in more than 30 countries. Einar M�r Gu�mundsson (born in Reykjavik in 1954) is an Icelandic author of novels, short stories, and poetry. His books have been translated into several languages Krist�n Eir�ksd�ttir is an Icelandic poet and author. Eir�ksd�tter's debut novel, Kj�tb�rinn was published in 2004. This was followed by H��lit au�nin in 2006 and Annarskonar s�la in 2008. Her first two books were a mixture of poetry and prose while her third was entirely poetry. Bj�rn Halld�rsson was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1983. He studied English and American Literature at the University of East-Anglia in Norwich and has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow. Along with working as a writer, translator and journalist, he has directed panels at festivals such as the Reykjav�k Literature Festival and the PEN World Voices Festival in New York. His short stories have been published by literary journals in Iceland and the UK and have also appeared in translation in English, German and Italian. Au�ur J�nsd�ttir (b. 1973) is one of the most accomplished authors writing in Icelandic today. She won the Icelandic Literary Prize for The People in the Basement and the Icelandic Women's Literature Prize for Secretaries to the Spirits. Both of these novels were nominated for the Nordic Council's Literature Prize. Au�ur latest novel, Grand Mal (St�ri skj�lfti), became Au�ur's most successful novel to date and gathered a huge following among Icelandic readers of all ages. Hai il diritto di recedere dal presente contratto entro 14 giorni senza fornire alcuna motivazione.

Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.

Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).

Per rispettare il termine di recesso, � sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso stesso.

Effetti del recesso

In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).

Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.

Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.

Il rimborso sar� effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.

Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finch� non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finch� non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.

Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a Revaluation Books, Hounslow, United Kingdom, senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volont� di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine � rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.

Eccezioni al diritto di recesso

Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:

La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.
