Hardcover. "The Border Line, From the Solway Firth to the North Sea Along the Marches of Scotland and England" is an exhaustive and evocative exploration of the historic boundary separating two nations. Written by James Logan Mack, this work provides a meticulous topographical and historical account of the line that stretches across Great Britain, from the western shores of the Solway Firth to the eastern reaches of the North Sea.The book delves into the unique landscape of the Marches, examining the landmarks, ruins, and natural features that define the frontier. Mack traces the complex history of this region, touching upon the lives of the Border Reivers and the centuries of conflict and cooperation that shaped the character of the borderlands. Through detailed descriptions and local lore, the narrative captures the stark beauty and the turbulent past of the hills, moors, and rivers that constitute the border.Ideal for historians, geographers, and travelers alike, "The Border Line" serves as a definitive guide to the Anglo-Scottish marches.
