Chapter One

The Science of Energy and Nutritional Healing

My attraction to science was inherent. From my youth, I was intrigued by the idea of drawing conclusions from observation and experience. I was particularly interested in the realm of physics, although I didn't use that word in those days. Although I am not a physicist, my perspective in my chosen profession of chiropractic has been based upon the laws of physics; first Newtonian, and now Quantum.

Physics can be broken down into very simple ideas based upon the scale or size of the matter in question. Simply put, it is not about the matter of physics; it is about the physics of matter. Great big things have a different physics than very small things.

When thinking of great big things, we can imagine our own solar system. The basic physics of the dynamic workings in our solar system is gravity, which is the foundation of Gravitational Physics. Very large objects have a gravitational attraction to other very large objects in their gravitational neighborhood. When it comes to a solar system, the neighborhood is not "down the block and around the corner." The next door neighbor in our solar system can be tens of millions of miles away.

Our home, the Earth, is routinely affected by the closest house next door, the moon. The push and pull effect of the moon's gravity is the factor that controls the ocean tides. Of course, we cannot see gravity as it does its work. In order to experience the effect, you must go to the beach and watch the change of the tides.

This demonstrates the basic problem with most energy healing-up until now, we have not had a way to measure or quantify it. In the world of science, nothing has validity until it can be measured. This can be a double edged sword. For a person of science, having objective evidence is the only acceptable way to approach any subject in a rational manner. Unfortunately, this doesn't give acknowledgement to the vast number of people who know what they feel. The people who are experienced in energy healing have a "sense" of the energy that most people cannot relate to.

In Health Care, we live in an age of objective accountability, of "evidence-based" outcomes. Health Care professionals are no longer able to treat patients unless they can measure the results of their efforts, especially if they expect a third party payor to cover it. Employers and employees alike are spending ever-increasing amounts of money to pay health insurance premiums. Although it is not unusual for patients to have health problems that are unresolved by contemporary medicine, when patients seek alternative care, insurance companies often refuse to reimburse them, saying that there is no evidence of its effectiveness.

Surprisingly, alternative care is held to a higher standard of outcome measurement than mainstream medical care. The rules for insurance reimbursement are selectively enforced. By proclaiming alternative procedures "medically unnecessary", insurance companies effectively switch the burden of proof to the alternative provider. The third party payor does not have to pay for the treatment if the provider has difficulty measuring the outcome. The patient's subjective report of improvement is not sufficient to justify third-party payment.

In order to prove the scientific validity of our energy healing technique, it must be based upon established science. An explanation of the physics involved helps to illustrate the science behind the MFT energy signature matching. Examining the physics of the big things, such as planets, can help us understand the physics of little things, like the subatomic particles that are responsible for the M-Field.

Most of us living on the planet are aware of the physical phenomenon we call gravity. Students learn in elementary school that the larger the planet, the greater the gravitational field. A person standing on Jupiter would weigh more than a person standing on Earth. A person standing on the earth would weigh more than a person standing on the moon. This became much easier to comprehend once we had video of humans doing physical activities on the moon. The seeing became believing.

Further down the scale, on the surface of the planet, the gravitational attraction of objects such as people, buildings, and vehicles is considered negligible. It still exists, but we don't find ourselves being sucked into a building just because it is much bigger than we are. The physics theory that applies to objects of this size is called Newtonian Physics.

Gravitational Physics describes objects the size of planets, and Newtonian Physics describes things the size of people, cars and buildings. On an even smaller scale, the system that applies to the atoms, molecules and subatomic particles of body chemistry is called Quantum Physics. It is the physics of the little pieces, and similar to gravity, it cannot be seen.

When Albert Einstein discussed these forces that act between elementary particles in the early 20th Century, nobody understood it. To many people, quantum physics is still not "real" because we do not encounter it on a day-to-day basis in any way that requires us to consciously think about it. Although we employ quantum physics every day when turning on a light switch, using a computer or watching television, these actions do not require that we understand what is happening on a subatomic level.

Quantum Physics is about the energy that holds it all together. This is the same energy we use in MFT to develop nutritional protocols and discover toxic body energies.

The human body is made up of many organ systems, such as the nervous, digestive, reproductive, and circulatory systems. Each organ system is made up of individual organs. For example, the digestive system includes the oral cavity, the esophagus, the stomach, the pancreas, liver, gall bladder, the small and large intestine, to name a few.

Each organ can contain a variety of tissue types, including connective tissue, epithelial tissue, muscle tissue or nerve tissue. Each form of tissue is made up of multiple cells, and each cell is made up of multiple organelles such as the cell nucleus, membrane and mitochondria. Within these tiny microcosms, there are thousands of energetic and chemical processes going on each minute, all the time. Ultimately, as we go smaller and smaller, we get to what is really at the core-ENERGY!

Everything in the universe, fundamentally, is energy; it all emits an energy signature. Physics research papers try to bring the energy signature alive for the reader by drawing illustrations of the theoretical concept. Over the last hundred years, many books have been written that discuss the human body from an energy perspective, although not many have been bestsellers. Most of the literature on the subject is considered unconventional, outside of the mainstream. MFT brings a new concept to the discussion of the practical application of energy theory: namely, matching the energy signature of the person with the energy signatures of food for optimal health.

As the health care crisis in this country has escalated, there is an equivalent food crisis that has escalated in parallel. The dramatic increase in artificial and synthetic components added to our food has changed the very nature of our diet. Many of us grew up in the age of "Better Living through Chemistry", the slogan of the chemical industry. Now, non-food additives have become so commonplace that we have become anesthetized to the psychological impact of eating chemical substances named "sucrose acetate isobutyrate", "glyceryl abietate", or "polyethylene glycol", to name just a few.

In the 21st Century, we have a situation that requires special words to describe the origin of our food. Real food is now called "organic" food, while fake food, or food that has been altered to the point where it now has very little nutrition, is called "commercial" food, or just "food".

When we changed our food, we put our very survival at risk. When the energy signature of the food is incompatible with the energy signature of the body, the body will not recognize that food as something nourishing. It will look upon the food as an invader and attack it! Herein lays the problem with imposter foods such as Olestra and aspartame. Manufactured with the intention of "tricking" the body into not absorbing it as calories, these artificial substances provoke an immune response. Rather than building up the body, the fake foods tear it down, draining it of resources and stamina.

The end result is predictable: more disease, more autoimmune challenges and more cancer will be our future. We have already seen it happening, yet most of us feel powerless to do anything about it. Stemming the tide of the poisoned-plate onslaught begins with education. We must stand up against the forces that are destroying our food supply! All great things that have ever been accomplished in this country began when the people took a stand for what is right!

The American Revolution came about because loyal Colonists grew tired of British suppression and eventually were forced to act. A similar situation is building in America today. Our food supply is in the control of a few mega-corporations with aggressive marketing campaigns designed to suppress the truth and ensure their own profits. Such a corrupt system, based upon disinformation and greed, should not be allowed to exist in this country.

Much of this food is readily available and cheap because of government subsidies, particularly to the corn industry, which received an astounding $80,609,075,462 in subsidies in the years 1995-2010, according to the 2011 Farm Subsidy Database. Eighty billion dollars to keep corn syrup cheap for companies such as Coca-Cola and Kellogg's! Something is wrong with this picture. We were once the Land of the Free, but when it comes to our food, we are free no longer. We live in the Land of the Controlled and Manipulated. It is time for a new revolution, one without violence or anarchy, as we reclaim our rightful heritage to not merely stay alive, but thrive on the bounty of our planet.

Chapter Two

Conundrum

"If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny."

We live in interesting times. The United States of America is considered the richest nation on Earth, yet we are also the greatest debtor nation that the world has ever seen, with a national debt of over 13 trillion dollars. With a culture and lifestyle that is envied around the world, the USA represents a land of plenty.

The American health care system is extremely technologically advanced. We have diagnostic procedures for every acute health complaint. If you must have a medical emergency, there is no better place to be than at the modern American hospital emergency room. Yet, according to the World Health Organization, we have a serious flaw in our system: the United States ranks 37th, out of 38, in total health for industrialized countries. We outspend everyone looking for health, but real health still eludes us.

We have many other serious problems in addition to our economy and our environment. Over the past four decades, the ecological movement has challenged us all to use resources and raw materials sustainably. We hear concerns on a global scale about the availability of a fresh water supply. As the population of the earth continues to grow, how can we care for our limited resources?

The recent American financial crisis has required a hard look at our country's habit of spending more than is collected in revenue. There have been accusations of irresponsible government spending at both the state and federal levels. Instead of a sustainable long-term response, we just keep kicking the financial can down the road. This has occurred on a personal level for many Americans as well. We live in an instant gratification society; we want what we want, when we want it. Acting on these impulses creates credit card debt and home mortgages that collapse upon the borrower.

More and more, the question of sustainability is raised in any discussion of future endeavors. Whether regarding health care, economics, ecology, or agriculture, this is a question that ultimately must be answered.

Unsustainable People who are familiar with pop music from the 60's may recall a popular song by folk artist Barry Maguire:

    "The eastern world, it is exploding.
    Violence flaring, bullets loading.
    You're old enough to kill, but not for voting.
    And even the Jordan River has bodies floating.
    You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're toting?
    And you tell me, over and over and over and over again,
    That you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction."

This song, titled "The Eve of Destruction", spent several weeks at the top of the charts and fit within the genre of the protest songs in style at that time. It questioned the logic and sustainability of the military industrial complex controlling the political conversation in a world of stockpiled nuclear weapons.

When it comes to food, America has reached "The Nutritional Eve of Destruction". How much longer can we continue the farming practices that have been perverted by large corporate conglomerates? Big agribusiness has bought up family farms, poisoned the soil with pesticides and herbicides, and then genetically modified the seeds to grow better on the poisoned soil. Monsanto and other large companies have genetically modified the seeds to make them sterile, and then patented the seeds, thus requiring farmers to purchase new seeds each year.

Gone are the days of the "Circle of Life" on the farm. Done in the name of efficiency, this leaves both farmers and consumers at the mercy of the corporations that now own the "rights" to our food. Big Agribusiness has also manipulated the political system to infiltrate the regulatory agencies with their own people. These "plants" are then perfectly positioned to write policies that benefit the corporations at the expense of the consumer ... the consumer whom these agencies exist to protect. While their spokespeople spin the conversation to make it sound as if these corporations have the best interest of the consumer in mind, the real motives are clear: control the food supply to ensure present and future profit.

Barry Maguire obviously hit a nerve with his haunting lyrics that resonated with his strong message, especially when combined with a driving militaristic musical arrangement. "The Eve of Destruction" sold millions of records and was a rallying cry for much of the political change that followed over the next decade. Of course, not everyone agreed with that message. Many military leaders and defense contractors saw nothing wrong with this course of action. The people who lived through those times were caught up in a huge political tug-of-war about the direction this country should take. Under John F. Kennedy's leadership, the country had just survived the Cuban Missile Crisis and was confronted with the challenge of the spread of communism. Later, with JFK gone, there was new leadership and a different agenda.

Much of the generation that had lived through World War II considered the political protests of the 1960's to be unpatriotic and anti-American. Their rallying cry was, "America, Love It or Leave It." Those of the younger generation protested, considering the actions of the United States military to be criminal in nature. Their slogan of unity was, "America, Change It or Lose It." It was an epic battle of two very diverse ideologies, waged under a subtle, yet constant, nuclear threat.

Now, four decades later, we face a new silent threat! While it is not as obvious as the peril of impending nuclear war, it is very real and it threatens our survival just the same. The nutrient content of our food is diminishing to the point where soon, it may no longer support life. Powerful pesticides and herbicides leach from the soil into our mainstream food sources, and eventually into livestock and wildlife. Ultimately, these poisons will overwhelm the immune system of every animal in the food chain.

This threat has crept up on us slowly over the past 150 years, but has recently accelerated as big agribusiness has become more aggressive in their efforts to control the food. Unfortunately, subtle changes over a long time frame do not create glaring, hard to ignore headlines. Unlike Vietnam, it does not require a military draft that disrupts the lives of our young people. We are like the proverbial "Frog in Boiling Water", living in an instant gratification society where it is easy to sit back and wait until the problem becomes so painful we can no longer ignore it. When it comes to the food we depend upon to nourish and renew our bodies, we cannot wait until the heat becomes unbearable ... if we do, it will be too late.
