Hardcover in green cloth; no dustjacket, as issued. Ex-Library copy; markings include: number label on the spine, a library bookplate on the front pastedown; small pencil markings on the Contents page, and a pocket on the rear pastedown. There is a slip tipped in at the front stating: "With the compliments of The Commissioners of thee Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Society, E. A. Birge.". B&W and color plates, and a color fold-out map; the map is clean, but has some tears on the folds. Wear, bumping at the corners & spine extremities. Rubbing & soil to the binding cloth. The spine gilt lettering is somewhat faded, but readable. The page edges, endpapers and first few pages are age-darkened. Else pages a bit age-toned.
