About Our Authors
Laurie Ann Callihan received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego Christian College in El Cajon, California. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Science Education as a University Fellow at Florida State University. She has extensive writing, speaking, and teaching experience. Her authorship includes The Best Test Preparation for the CLEP Biology Exam and other REA titles and journal articles currently in press. She is an internationally known speaker on education, having been the keynote speaker at state and local education conventions throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. In addition to years of study, curriculum development, and teaching Biology and Physical Science, her current research focuses on development of effective teaching methods and tools for conceptual understanding.
David Callihan earned a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics from San Diego Christian College in El Cajon, California. He currently teaches physical science and mathematics at Bishop Hall Charter School in Thomasville (Thomas County), Georgia. He began his teaching career at DeSoto Middle School in Arcadia, Florida, where he was recognized as the top performing teacher based on AYP results. Prior to becoming a teacher, Mr. Callihan had a successful career in manufacturing, oil exploration, and high technology sales. Mr. Callihan is a Zero-G teacher coach, and has worked with the Florida Space Grant Consortium, the Center for Oceanic Studies in Educational Excellence, and the Florida Institute of Phosphate Research. He is currently working on his Masters in Science Education at Florida State University.
