I made this book for those days when your mind feels a little too busy, the hours feel a little too long, or you just need something else to focus on for a while. Maybe you’re having a difficult day and need a small distraction. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, bored, restless or simply want to do something creative. Pick a page, grab a pen and/or some coloured pencils, and give yourself a little time to write, draw, think or just make something. There’s no right or wrong way to use this book. You can take it seriously, make a mess, skip pages or come back to your favourites. Sometimes you just need somewhere for your thoughts to go. So take a breath, turn the page, and see what happens.
A little creative escape for when your brain needs a break.
Calming Capsules is a mental health journal filled with writing prompts, drawing prompts, creative activities and little challenges to help you get things out of your head and onto the page. You don’t need to be good at writing. You definitely don’t need to be good at art. There are no rules here. Write something ridiculous. Draw something weird. Scribble, cross things out, colour outside the lines, make a complete mess or fill an entire page with your thoughts.
You can work through the journal from beginning to end or jump around and choose whatever catches your attention.
There’s no right way to do this. Just make it yours.
Think of Calming Capsules as a little collection of creative things to reach for when you need to slow down, let things out and give your brain something else to do.
Your thoughts. Your mess. Your pages. Your rules.
If you want a journal that’s actually fun to come back to, you might have just found your new favourite.
PSST…
Calming Capsules can also make a thoughtful gift for someone going through a difficult time with their mental health, whether they’re at home, in a psychiatric hospital, or simply need something to help fill the slower moments of the day.
I was hospitalised as a teenager, and I remember just how slowly the hours could pass. I would have loved having something like this with me, something creative to turn to when there wasn’t much else to do.
If they enjoy writing, drawing, being creative, or simply need somewhere to put their thoughts, Calming Capsules can give them a little distraction, a creative outlet, and something that belongs entirely to them while they work through whatever they’re facing.
