This is a practical guide for priests in parishes, teachers and students in seminaries, for those working in diocesan administration, for members of religious institutes, and not least for interested lay people. Its stated aim is to show the public what, in practical terms, are the effects in the daily life of the Church of the many profound documents of the Second Vatican Council. This commentary also carries the extensively revised version of the English-language translation of the text of the Code of Canon Law (originally published in 1983) and incorporates the various developments and interpretations which have occurred since 1983. It therefore has the advantage of practical experience of working with the new Code.
