Neuware - 'Canon and Text of the New Testament' is a comprehensive and scholarly examination of the historical processes that shaped the Christian scriptures. Written by the renowned theologian Caspar René Gregory, this work provides an in-depth analysis of two critical pillars of biblical scholarship: the formation of the canon and the transmission of the sacred text. The first portion of the volume traces the gradual recognition of the New Testament books, exploring how individual epistles and gospels gained authority within the early Christian community and were eventually compiled into the definitive collection used today. Gregory meticulously examines the testimony of early church fathers and the decisions of historical councils to clarify this complex evolution. In the second part, the focus shifts to the physical history of the scriptures. Gregory, an expert in paleography, details the various Greek manuscripts, ancient versions, and lectionaries that have preserved the New Testament through the centuries. He provides a rigorous overview of textual criticism, explaining the methods used to determine the most accurate readings of the original writings. This work remains a foundational resource for students of theology, church history, and biblical linguistics, offering a profound window into the academic rigor of early 20th-century biblical studies. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. Within the United States, you may freely copy and distribute this work, as no entity (individual or corporate) has a copyright on the body of the work.As a reproduction of a historical artifact, this work may contain missing or blurred pages, poor pictures, errant marks, etc. Scholars believe, and we concur, that this work is important enough to be preserved, reproduced, and made generally available to the public.
