Paperback. "Cappy Ricks: A Comedy in Three Acts" is a spirited stage adaptation of the popular maritime stories featuring the iconic character Alden P. Ricks. The play centers on the legendary "Cappy," a shrewd, cantankerous, yet ultimately big-hearted shipping magnate who rules his commercial empire with an iron will and a sharp tongue. Set in the bustling world of American commerce during the early 20th century, the narrative follows Cappy as he navigates the complexities of high-stakes business while simultaneously attempting to manage the personal lives and romantic entanglements of his daughter and his young employees.Expertly crafted for the theater by Edward E. Rose, this three-act comedy highlights the sharp wit and rapid-fire dialogue characteristic of the era's popular stage productions. The plot focuses on the generational tension between Cappy's traditional business instincts and the modern ambitions of those around him. Filled with humor, tactical maneuvering, and domestic drama, "Cappy Ricks: A Comedy in Three Acts" captures the essence of a classic American archetype. The work stands as an engaging piece of dramatic storytelling, emphasizing themes of entrepreneurial spirit, generational conflict, and the enduring nature of family loyalty within the competitive world of trade. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
