Chapters are organized around actual cases, which are presented in narrative form, and include analysis and commentary. Topics encompass all aspects of contracts, including intent, consideration, remedies, statute of frauds, parole evidence rule and interpretation of contract, avoidance of contract, conditions and promises, anticipatory repudiation, third party beneficiaries, and assignment and delegation. Special attention is given to terminology and the historical development of the law. Among the cases included are Burger King Corp. v. Family Dining Inc., to illustrate forfeiture as an excuse; United States v. Algernon Blair, Inc., on restitution for breach; and Hoffman v. Red Owl Stores, on the limits of the doctrine of consideration. Crandall is visiting professor at Wake Forest U., Whaley teaches at the Ohio State U.
