St. Jerome spent fifteen years translating the whole Bible - all 73 books - because he believed every Catholic deserved to actually understand it. So why do so many Bible study guides stop at 66?The Catholic 66 Roots Journey is the full-color, beginner-friendly guide that finally walks a reader through the whole Catholic Bible - every book, including the Deuterocanon - one clear page at a time.
Written by Coach Rowan K. Finch - former athlete, coach, youth minister, and Catholic dad who came home to the Church as an adult and had to learn the whole Bible the hard way - this is the guide he wishes someone had handed him. Not a 200-page seminary commentary that sits unopened. Not a "66 books" guide that quietly leaves the Catholic books out. A calm, clear,
beautiful map of Scripture a real beginner will actually use.
Every one of the 73 books gets its own full-color page: a plain-language overview, the historical context, a chapter-by-chapter summary, the key themes and people, notable verses in modern Catholic English (RSV-2CE), and how the book points to Christ. Open to any book, read for five minutes, and walk away understanding what it is about - with no theology degree required.
And it leaves nothing out. The full Catholic canon is here - including the seven deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, and 1 and 2 Maccabees), plus the full versions of Esther and Daniel - all in the same clean, color-coded format as Genesis and John.
Inside, every reader will find:
- All 73 books of the Catholic Bible - one full-color, easy-to-read page each, color-coded by section from the Pentateuch to Revelation, so any book is findable in seconds.
- The whole Catholic canon, including the Deuterocanon - explained in the same plain, beginner-friendly way as the books readers already know.
- A Catholic Connection on every single page - the saint, the Mass prayer, or the Catechism paragraph each book quietly lives behind, so Scripture stops feeling separate from the faith practiced on Sunday.
- The essentials for every book - overview, historical context, chapter-by-chapter summary, key themes and people, and how it points to Christ.
- Notable verses in modern Catholic English (RSV-2CE) - plus a "Today's Move" and two reflection questions that carry each book from the page into the week.
Perfect for adults new to the faith and RCIA candidates, cradle Catholics who never learned the whole story, Catholic parents building a family faith habit, small groups and parish study leaders, Confirmation students, and returning Catholics. An ideal gift for RCIA, Confirmation, First Communion, Easter, Christmas, and birthdays.
There is a real difference between a Catholic who owns half the story and one who finally sees all of it - Genesis to Revelation, every book on the table. One stays lost by Leviticus. The other reads the whole Bible with confidence.
If you're going to hand yourself, or someone you love, one guide this year, make it the one that walks through the whole Catholic Bible.
