This volume of the Chinese Research Perspectives on the Environment series is a translation of selections from the 2015 or the 10th edition of the Annual Report on Environment Development of China. Friends of Nature, which has been organizing the writing and compilation of the Annual Report, is the first and continues to be one of the most influential Chinese environmental NGO.

LIU Jianqiang is an award-winning investigative journalist and the Beijing editor of Chinadialogue, the first English-Chinese website focusing on reporting environmental issues. Friends of Nature is the first environmental non-governmental organization in the Peoples Republic of China, established in 1994 by LIANG Congjie, YANG Dongping, LIANG Xiaoyan and WANG Lixiong. The organization has been recipient of fifteen prestigious national and international awards.
