Descrizione dell’articolo da parte del venditore

3 ½ x 5 ½ real photo postcard, ca. 1900s. Langtry, Texas. The image is described at the bottom of the photo as follows, ".Judge Roy Bean holding court, trying a horse-thief, the left of the picture is a stolen horse. On horses, guarded by officers are two other horse thieves, supposed partners of the one on trial." Roy Bean (1825-1903) was a Texan saloon keeper and Justice of the Peace in Val Verde County, Texas. A colorful character, he called himself 'The Law West of the Pecos' and held court right in his saloon, The Jersey Lilly. Bean started his service in 1882, and was known for interpreting the law by his own methods and settling all cases with fines, the majority of which he kept. Despite his post-mortem reputation as being a hanging judge, Bean only sentenced two men to hang, one of whom escaped, during his nearly 15-year tenure. His single-room house, which he called an opera house, town hall, and seat of justice, was built by Bean in 1896. Light silvering. Else excellent. Everything we sell is guaranteed authentic forever to the original buyer. We also offer a 30-day return policy. If you discover a problem or are dissatisfied with an item, please contact us immediately. Our goal is to please every customer.
