New believers must be discipled. This book is your guide for helping them come to the Christian faith and then grow in faith once they have made a decision for Christ. Every Christian knows the story of a new believer who felt forgotten by the church and was left asking, "What do I do now?" Jesus' Great Commission was not to "make converts" but to "make disciples." This book was developed by Lead Pastor TD Smith as a study/workbook that combines helpful explanations, probing questions, and Bible reading designed to lead a new believer into foundational understanding. It has been successfully used in their church for intentional discipleship, and this step-by-step guide is now available to you.
What was the problem? What did God do? How do we respond in faith to what He did? What happens after we respond? These are the questions people have asked for two thousand years as they have been drawn to Jesus Christ. As followers of Christ, we want to help them understand what's happening, what it means, and what they should do next.
Using plain language to communicate God's plan, this book can be used as the framework for a mentor-disciple relationship, in small groups, or by an individual. The focus is three-fold. The first is understanding the gospel and how it applies to an individual. Then, how and why that individual should respond through belief and baptism. Finally, the book will help set a firm foundation for the new believers and launch them into a lifetime of growth by studying crucial questions regarding God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, prayer, the Bible, and the church. A suggested Bible reading plan is provided to help set a daily reading habit covering the Bible's big story.
With a "Quick Look" and "Deep Study" in each chapter, the book can be individualized to meet the needs and time constraints available and is suitable for older children (with some guidance), youth, and adults.
