Riassunto:

Think you know all there is to know about the Mafia! Fuggedaboudit! The Complete Idiot's Guide® to the Mafia is a comprehensive and fascinating overview of the criminal organization known as the Mafia. Mob expert and historian Jerry Capeci will take the reader on a colorful tour of this once very secret society, starting with its roots in 16th Century Sicily to its infiltration into American life and ending with what remains of the Mafia today.

L'autore:

Jerry Capeci, a New York City–based reporter, columnist, and author for three decades, is one of America's foremost experts on organized crime. A frequent guest on network and cable television programs in the United States and Canada, Capeci has co-authored three books about the Mafia and has written scores of articles and features about organized crime for magazines and newspapers in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Since 1996, Capeci has written "Gang Land," an award-winning online column about the Mafia that evolved from a weekly column he wrote for the New York Daily News from 1989 to 1995. In 2001, The New York Times and People Magazine wrote feature stories about Capeci and his online column, http://www.ganglandnews.com. Capeci is also co-author, with Gene Mustain, of Gotti: Rise and Fall (Onyx, 1996), Murder Machine (Dutton, 1992), and Mob Star: The Story of John Gotti (Franklin Watts, 1988).

Capeci often lectures student and community groups. He has talked about basic reporting and writing to junior high school students; discussed ethics and confidential sources with graduate school students of journalism; explained the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act to law school students. He lives in New York City, where he is Director of Communications for John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
