Paperback. Introduction to Molly FishWhat Are Molly Fish?Molly fish are small, colorful freshwater fish belonging to the genus Poecilia. They are among the most popular aquarium fish in the world because they are hardy, adaptable, peaceful, and relatively easy to care for. This fascinating reproductive method makes them especially appealing to beginner and experienced fish keepers alike.Native to the warm waters of North, Central, and South America, mollies inhabit rivers, streams, estuaries, coastal lagoons, and even slightly salty waters. Their adaptability allows them to thrive in a wide variety of aquatic environments, making them resilient aquarium inhabitants.Mollies come in numerous colors, body shapes, and fin types. Whether you prefer the jet-black Black Molly, the spotted Dalmatian Molly, the elegant Sailfin Molly, or the rounded Balloon Molly, there is a variety to suit every aquarist's taste.Their peaceful nature allows them to coexist with many other community fish, making them a common choice for home aquariums, schools, offices, and public displays.History and OriginThe story of molly fish begins in the tropical and subtropical waters of the Americas.
