It was a horseshoe above a doorway, a rowan cross tied with red thread. Salt was placed quietly by a threshold. Herbs gathered in season and hung by the hearth. Small acts repeated throughout the year bring protection, good fortune, and peace to the household.

For generations, these customs formed part of everyday life.

A Complete Year of British Folk Magic invites you to step back into that living tradition.

Rooted in the seasonal rhythms of Britain and inspired by the practices of cunning folk, household traditions, and rural customs, this book offers a complete year of practical workings that can be woven naturally into modern life.

Rather than focusing on complex ceremonies or expensive tools, the emphasis is on simple actions carried out consistently and with purpose. The result is a practice that grows stronger over time and becomes part of the fabric of daily living.

Inside you will discover:

• A complete twelve-month journey through the British folk year

• Seasonal rituals inspired by traditional customs and countryside lore

• Practical protection work for the home, family, and personal well-being

• Hearth-based practices that bring meaning to everyday routines

• Prosperity and stability work rooted in traditional folk wisdom

• Grounded ancestral practices approached with respect and healthy boundaries

• Guidance for building a lasting practice that remains realistic and sustainable

This is not a book about dramatic displays or complicated ceremonial systems.

It is a book about tending the threshold.

Lighting the candle.

Marking the turning seasons.

Remembering the wisdom of the land.

Returning to practices that have helped ordinary people navigate uncertainty, hardship, celebration, and change for centuries.

Whether you are entirely new to folk magic or looking to deepen an existing practice, this book provides a clear and structured path through the year.

By following the seasons and returning to simple, meaningful acts, you will create something far more valuable than a collection of rituals.

You will create a living practice of your own.

If you are seeking a grounded approach to British folk magic that honours tradition while fitting comfortably into modern life, your journey begins here.

We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone.
