The petroleum industry in general has been dominated by engineers and production specialists. The upstream segment of the industry is dominated by drilling/completion engineers. Usually, neither of those disciplines have a great deal of training in the chemistry aspects of drilling and completing a well prior to its going on production. The chemistry of drilling fluids and completion fluids have a profound effect on the success of a well. For example, historically the drilling fluid costs to drill a well have averaged around 7% of the overall cost of the well, before completion. The successful delivery of up to 100% of that wellbore, in many cases may be attributable to the fluid used.

Informazioni sull’autore
Nicknamed "Slim Darley", the late H.C.H. Darley was formerly a member of the Institute of Petroleum in London, an active member within SPE, and a Researcher for Shell for almost 25 years as well as a Consultant. Darley earned a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Birmingham University in the UK, and Mr. Darley passed away in 1996.
The late George Gray, or "Doc Gray", as he was known in the industry, was a drilling fluids technologist for NL Baroid for over 30 years and a pioneer in the development of drilling fluids technology. He willingly served on innumerable committees and held various offices in technical societies, including Director and Vice President of SPE and various poistions within the American Chemical Society and American Petroleum Institute. George earned a BS degree from Texas Christian University and a MS and PHD degree from Rice University and was a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas. George passed away in 1983.

Booksellers are required to accept returns for all reason except when the buyer changes his/her mind. Note that laws in certain European jurisdictions may require some European booksellers to accept returns regardless of the reason for the return. In cases where the book is returned to the bookseller due to an incomplete address, unclaimed, returned to sender, or similar reasons, the buyer will be refunded for the book price only.
Returns for bookseller direct orders are subject to the Abebooks Returns policy and the guidelines outlined above. All seller-direct Returns must be processed online to ensure the bookseller is not charged commission on the refunded sale.
b. Time Limits for Returns
Books can be returned for the reasons not as described, item damaged, incorrect item delivered, and buyer changed mind up to 30 days after the maximum estimated delivery date. For item did not arrive, the option will not be available to buyers to initiate a return until 14 days after the maximum estimated delivery date has passed.
Booksellers may choose to accept returns outside this time limit. All Returns must be processed via the Abebooks Web sites. Please note that delays associated with international orders may occur due to customs. This may result in late requests from buyers to return items.
c. Proof of Delivery
Booksellers are responsible for the book until the buyer receives it. Booksellers are encouraged to purchase delivery tracking whenever possible.

Effetti del recesso
