- Libro 1 di 3: The Sun Thief
The great spirit Vatu keeps the Sun in a box, where no thief can steal it. Once a year, the box is opened and life springs across the dark lands. The whole world belongs to Vatu. He is darkness, he is master of all. There is no hiding from him.
But Utas must try, for his daughter's sake. She is sick from darkness, and yet she glows with a mysterious light. If Vatu can find them, he will destroy them, or worse, drag them back into his mad, dark world. Torn between duty and mercy, between justice and freedom, Utas tries to escape, but it seems inevitable that the darkness will reclaim him.
For the greatest mercy and the greatest punishment Utas can suffer is to return to his true self.
"A conceptual and intriguing fantasy novel with plenty of clever secrets to uncover... Crowman is a fantastic work with plenty of surprises for the diligent reader and is highly recommended for fans of intelligent and conceptual fantasy fiction. ★★★★★" - Readers' Favorite
"What can I say about Crowman? A myth I’ve known all my life, but only read for the first time. Symbolism that speaks to the hollows in my bones. Language that is spare and beautiful at the same time. A narrative that is both a riddle and simple.
When the darkness consumes all, does this group of strangers stand a chance?
Rae’s debut novel is a triumph. I can’t wait to read more of his books." - Iseult Murphy, author of Return to Hades and Other Adventures
"David Rae's Crowman is a wonderfully curious tale with allegorical and mythological elements." - Terrie Leigh Relf, author of Sisterhood of the Blood Moon
"Crowman is an ambitious introduction to a new dark fantasy series that at its best reads like a gothic revival of the mythic roots it draws from... the novel offers a fully conceived world that keeps the more whimsical aspects of fantasy on a par with its sun-deprived characters’ desolate and bloody journey towards hope." - Strange Horizons Magazine
"Crowman is an ethereal dark fantasy with a striking cast of flawed characters, immaculate world-building, and a swirling miasma of a plot that left me guessing until the very last word." - Rue Sparks, author of Daylight Chasers
"I really liked the author’s writing style, it was easy to read, and I found myself unable to put the book down." - OnlineBookClub.org
"Crowman is written in the best tradition of some of the world’s most renowned fantasy writers; it has a classic, effortless feel to it in my opinion, that made it a joy to read! As I read this book I did not want it to end, I was enchanted by the author’s incredible words from the first page, and this is all thanks to his addictive plot and extraordinary characters!" - Red Headed Book Lover
"A masterpiece of epic fantasy, conceptual and allegorical fiction in which I would willingly immerse myself book after book after book." - Reedsy

Descrizione dello Store
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
