This textbook is used for a course in application-specific integrated circuits for digital signal processing given at Link÷ping University in Sweden, where the author is a professor. It addresses the design and implementation of DSP systems using advanced VLSI technologies, and emphasizes DSP algorithms, scheduling, resource allocation assignment, and circuit architectures. Three design case studies demonstrate different characteristics of common DSP applications a high-performance FFT processor, a 2D discrete cosine transform for high-definition TV, and a wave digital filter for interpolation of the sampling frequency. About the Author: Lars Wanhammar is a Professor in Electronic Systems at Linköping University in Linköping, Sweden. His research interests are in the theory and design of digital signal processing systems, particularly digital filters and discrete transforms, as well as the computational properties of DSP algorithms, CAD tools, and VLSI circuits.
