"They say the devil is in the details. They're wrong. The devil is in the spreadsheet."
Lucas Miller grew up broke, brilliant, and used to being underestimated. When the ruthless, secretive firm of Crowe & Kline offers him more money than his family has ever seen, he doesn't ask what a firm like that really wants from a man like him. He just says yes.
Then he meets Ava.
She's beautiful in the way a locked door is beautiful: elegant, unreadable, built to keep something in. She owns a brownstone on Robinson Street, eyes the color of dark honey, and a smile that never quite reaches them. Lucas falls for her anyway fast, hard, and past the point of asking the right questions.
Until the morning he finds a note. Hidden inside a golden vase in her bathroom. Two words, in handwriting that isn't Ava's.
HELP ME.
Ava has an explanation. She always does soft, reasonable, disarming, delivered before he's even finished asking the question. But the questions keep coming. What's really behind the padlocked door of the warehouse across the river? Why does the key she presses into his hand feel less like a gift than an invitation into something he will not survive knowing?
Lucas came to New York to turn other people's numbers into a better life. He didn't come looking for a monster. He definitely didn't plan on falling in love with one or on discovering, too late, that the only ledger he can no longer balance is his own.
The Dark Secrets of Robinson is a dark, addictive romantic thriller about the lies we tell for love, and the doors that should have stayed locked. Perfect for readers who like their love interests morally grey, their secrets buried in the walls, and their happy-ever-afters never guaranteed.
