Only the dead have seen the end of war...

War torn Lbya.

Today...

In the chaos of conflict, Sergeant Finn Douglas, a veteran Royal Marine Commando, is forced to commit a terrible act to save the lives of his men. Haunted by his actions and devastated by the loss of his family to a terrorist attack, Finn turns his back on war and killing and escapes to a wilderness off the coast of Scotland.

When a team of Military Police are despatched to track Finn down and bring him to justice, it provides one of the policemen with the opportunity to redress an old grudge against the Marines.

And he will stop at nothing to see this through.

When a gang of violent wildlife-poachers shatter his sanctuary, Finn is forced to intervene to save the lives of the people and animals he has come to admire. But his actions provide a lead for the Military Police and incur the wrath of the poachers' psychotic leader.

In the mid-winter, mountain wilderness, the manhunt becomes a race against time between the forces of law and order and a vicious murderer determined to take his revenge.

Haunted by grief and trauma...

Hiding and surviving in the wild...

Hunted like an animal by both sides of the law...

How will Finn Douglas survive?

A moving and thrilling story that takes the reader from the war zones of North Africa to the mountain wilderness of Scotland in a novel that has been described as '...definitely the next big thing for NetFlix...'

James E Mack was born in Scotland but spent much of his childhood abroad, gaining a love of nature, the outdoors and wildlife. He became a Commando in the late 1980s and a member of a Special Operations unit, with a 22-year career serving in many of the world’s troubled hotspots. He subsequently specialised as a Counter-Terrorism adviser and assisted in capacity building operations in support of UK and US Government initiatives. His passion for wildlife saw James develop Counter-Poaching programs for conservation organisations in West Africa. This passion remains and whether tracking pumas in Patagonia, photographing mountain gorillas in Uganda, or observing Amur tigers in Northern China, wildlife retains its hold. James lives in Northern Scotland where the nearby sea and mountains give him the opportunity to leave his desk occasionally to surf or strap on his Telemark skis.
