I didn't grow up in poverty, nor was I a privileged child. Anything but. I was raised in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York, in an upper middle class environment. Since my parents were a product of the Great Depression, I was brought up to appreciate what little, if anything, was offered in the way of luxury to my sister Irene and myself. Whatever I accomplished or screwed up in life, I take full credit and/or blame, inasmuch as my parents had nothing to do with my career or warped sense of humor. Finally, mom and dad are absolved of all my sins.
