The medical industry faces the constant challenge of attempting to improve the compliance of personal medical device users to their medical regime for their own safety. In this book the authors examine emotional responses to medical devices and its application in increasing medical device compliance whilst at home. It underlines the importance of taking a number of considerations into account when new devices are designed including colour, aesthetic form and age/gender.

Gisli obtained his B.Ed. in 1980, in Design and Craft Education from the University of Iceland and his PhD. from Loughborough University, Leicestershire, England in 2012. Gisli has been an Associate Professor at the University of Iceland, since 1996, in the Department of Design and Craft Education.
