To rid the world of a monster, he became one himself. But a single death cannot cleanse the Empire of its corruption.

After a lifetime of planning, training, and sacrifice, Fenris Vale finally achieves his ultimate goal. Imbued with forbidden magic, he assassinates the god-emperor to liberate the Xandrian Empire from a cruel tyrant. Weakened by the fight, he is overpowered and captured by the heir, Aludrien Aleksandran.

In the emperor’s absence, the Empire falls into the hands of conniving and warmongering leaders. Yet, none of these threats are as dangerous as the heir, who must wait one hundred days before ascending the throne. Ruthless and vain, Aludrien will stop at nothing to become the most powerful being in existence, even if it means enlisting his father’s killer.

Aludrien offers Fenris a choice: serve him and eliminate Aludrien’s rivals before his coronation in exchange for one final duel, or face execution. Fenris is torn between his righteous ideals, the heir’s iron will, and an unexpected attraction. Now he must decide if sacrificing his morals is worth the chance to purge the Empire of greater evil.
