Matthew Henry's Directions for Daily Communion with God is a deeply practical and spiritually enriching guide designed to help believers cultivate a consistent and meaningful relationship with God. Originally preached as a series of sermons in 1712, this work emphasizes the importance of structuring each day around communion with God, offering wisdom and encouragement for beginning, spending, and ending every day in His presence.

Henry divides the book into three key sections:

1. How to Begin Every Day with God: Drawing from Psalm 5:3, Henry underscores the necessity of morning prayer and devotion, emphasizing the need to offer God the firstfruits of our day. He explains how morning communion with God prepares the believer’s heart for the challenges ahead and keeps them centered on Christ.
2. How to Spend Every Day with God: Henry provides practical advice on maintaining an ongoing sense of God’s presence throughout daily activities. He encourages believers to integrate prayer, reflection, and a Godward mindset into every aspect of life, whether in work, relationships, or moments of rest.
3. How to Close Every Day with God: Reflecting on Psalm 4:8, Henry explains the importance of ending the day in gratitude and repentance, entrusting ourselves to God’s care through evening prayer and reflection.

What sets this edition apart is its accessible language and its focus on making these timeless truths relevant for modern readers. Henry’s warmth, clarity, and pastoral tone make this a valuable resource for Christians at any stage of their faith journey.
