Hyatt's theory re vertical ascension based upon his observations of the dragon fly. A scarce and ephemeral work and a copy with an excellent provenance. Hyatt's interest in aviation lead him to offer a prize of $1000, in 1858, to the inventor of a practical flying machine. Beautifully printed on excellent paper at the Chiswick Press. Top edge gilt, others uncut. 83 pages. Partially disbound, original printed wraps detached, lacking the rear wrapper, front wrapper very chipped at edges. Text block clean and complete. Size: 4to.
