Fifth edition. (4), XXXII, (4), IX-XII, (8), 400; (4), 392, 76 pp. + 16 folding engraved plates (of which 5 are maps, 2 celstial). Many diagrams, figures and engraved headpieces. Near contemporary full calf, spines sparsely gilt. Small damages to head and foot of spines, one leaf with tear, back free end-paper of vol. 1 torn out. Overall a very good copy. The standard textbook on navigation for the eighteenth century British navy. It was reprinted many times.
