Alison Adams is Senior Lecturer in the Dept. of French at the University of Glasgow. She was the Organizing Secretary of the Glasgow International Emblem Conference 1990 and is the Editor of the Newsletter of the Society for Emblem Studies. Originally a medievalist with publications in that field, she has for the last few years turned her attention to emblem studies and published a number of articles on Alciato.
Anthony J. Harper is professor and Head of German Studies at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. His main research field is German and Northern European Literature of the Renaissance and Baroque. Recent publications: The Song-Books of Gottfried Finckelthaus (1988), Christian Brehme, Lustige Gedichte 1637 (crit. ed., due in 1992), Studien zum dt. weltlichen Lied des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts (1992).
