The Other End of the Spectrum brings a unique view on parenting stating what many special needs parents feel but may be afraid to share. It also presents what parents wish others knew about living this “special” life. Without guilt or judgement, the book boldly speaks about the clouds along with the sunshine of parenting a child on the severe end of the spectrum. This is not a tale of complaints or “misery loving company” but one identifying with someone walking the same path. Each chapter opens the door to a different aspect of life with severe autism. This book needs to be in the hands of not just parents, but grandparents, therapists, teachers, and anyone wishing to gain insight to those touched by autism. Through charming anecdotes and stories of trying times, this book blends the genres of memoir, parenting, self-help, with a bit of education.
