"Equipment for Stage Production: A Manual of Scene Building" is a foundational guide to the technical and structural requirements of theatrical presentation. Written by Arthur Edwin Krows, this manual serves as a practical resource for understanding the design, construction, and operation of stage equipment.

The work provides detailed instruction on the creation of flats, platforms, and backdrops, while also addressing the essential mechanics of stage rigging, lighting placement, and movement. By focusing on the tangible elements of production, Krows offers a behind-the-scenes look at how physical spaces are transformed into dramatic environments.

As a significant historical document in the field of technical theater, "Equipment for Stage Production" captures the traditional methods of scene building that defined early twentieth-century stagecraft. It remains an insightful reference for theater students, set designers, and stage technicians who wish to understand the evolution of scenic craftsmanship and the enduring principles of theatrical architecture. This book emphasizes the vital role of the stage carpenter and technician in bringing the playwright's vision to fruition through precision and skill.
