"Ethics Origin and Development" is a profound exploration of the natural and social foundations of human morality, written by the renowned philosopher and naturalist Prince Kropotkin. This work represents a significant intellectual endeavor to ground ethical principles in the biological reality of mutual aid rather than abstract religious or metaphysical dogmas. Kropotkin traces the evolution of moral sentiment from animal societies through ancient civilizations to the modern era, arguing that cooperation and social solidarity are the primary drivers of progress and survival.

The book provides a critical analysis of historical ethical systems, examining the contributions of thinkers from ancient Greece through the Enlightenment and into the 19th century. By blending natural history with social philosophy, Kropotkin challenges the "survival of the fittest" interpretation of Darwinism, proposing instead that the instinct for mutual support is the true basis of justice, equity, and the concept of the common good. "Ethics Origin and Development" remains a vital text for readers interested in the intersections of biology, sociology, and political theory, offering a visionary perspective on how human societies can achieve harmony through shared values and collective action.
