Encountering crime on any level will make you stop and consider how you view the world. A burglary, a mugging, even witnessing a minor theft can leave a person feeling shocked, vulnerable and unable to trust others. Imagine then how it must feel to come face-to-face with the kind of extreme crime that can only be conceived by a truly evil mind. Acts so powerful that they can scar a whole community, even an entire nation, for generations. The perpetrators manage to achieve the kind of notoriety only usually afforded to Hollywood icons. In their own twisted imaginations they sit in a kind of evil Hall of Fame among others of their kind: Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Andrei Chikatilo, all jostling for the top spot.

Phil Clarke is a History and Film graduate who has written several screenplays and a number of non-fiction titles on execution, hostages and maritime humour. Kate and Tom Briggs are a freelance writing team specialising in history and psychology.
