Large folio, [220 x 336 mm]; bound in contemporary calf, borders in blind on front & rear covers, the spine with raised bands, contrasting leather title label "COKE'S INSTITUTES / FIRST PART / 1719". Finely engraved frontispiece portrait; Pp [i-xviii] [Title page, Preface, Original Subscribers of the 11th ed., Original Preface); Pp 1-100pp; [engraved plate], Pp1-402; [403: To The Reader]; Pp 1-74 [The Table] (Index). With three plates in total - the engraved frontispiece, engraved plate at p 100, and afolding plate of degrees of parentage inserted at p 19 of The First Part of the Insttutes. The folding plate has a tear at the lower right egdge (no loss). Text & Plates complete. Binding scuffed, spine label replaced (looks modern); small pencil marks to marhgins; overall a sound, good copy. The Eleventh edition, the most important of the later editions of Coke's great commentary upon Littleton, first published in 1628. The Eleventh Edition, (carefully corrected from the many Errors of the former Impressions) To which is added, The Treatise of the Old Tenures of the Laws of England: With two new Tables; and many References to the Modern Law Cases, never printed before, and distinguished from the old References by this Mark ( ).
