RARE IN SUCH FINE CONDITION. Baudelaire's most famous collection of poetry, here rendered into English by James Laver. Baudelaire's poems are important for their symbolism, and for their impact on the modernist movement. The poems deal with themes relating to decadence and eroticism. Both Baudelaire and his original publisher were prosecuted under the regime of the Second Empire as an "outrage aux bonnes m urs", an insult to public decency.
