This book is a state-of-the-art reference resource for surgeons treating patients with intra-articular fractures of the hip. It serves as a guide to assessing and classifying typical fracture patterns to reach the correct diagnosis and helps select the appropriate up-to-date treatment strategy.

It describes in detail the complex anatomy of the acetabulum and proximal femur, and also explains the assessment of various radiological imaging techniques for the pelvis and the hip.

The book highlights the advantages and disadvantages of traditional as well as newer surgical approaches to the hip and pelvis, such as surgical hip dislocation, hip arthroscopy, the pararectus approach, and combined approaches. For each surgical approach, the authors identify typical complications and document long-term outcomes.

It also includes chapters on the management of specific fracture types, such as acetabular, femoral head (Pipkin), and femoral neck fractures, as well as traumatic hip dislocations, and pathological fractures due to osteoporosis or tumors. This book is part of the series Fracture Management Joint by Joint.

Informazioni sull'autore

Dr. B�chler graduated from the medical faculty of the University of Bern, Switzerland, in 1998. After completing his thesis on confocal imaging of calcium propagation in heart cells at the Department of Physiology of the University of Bern (Prof. Andr� Kl�ber), he began his clinical training in general and trauma surgery at the regional hospital of Burgdorf and later completed the orthopaedic residency at the Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery of the University Hospital of Bern (Prof. Reinhold Ganz). After obtaining the Swiss Orthopaedic Specialist Degree, he completed a one year fellowship at the Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery of the University Hospital of Gothenburg, Sweden (Prof. Carl Ekholm). In 2007 he returned to the University of Bern as staff surgeon and deputy team leader of the Hip Team under Professor Klaus Siebenrock, specializing in revision hip arthroplasty, hip-preserving surgery and traumatology. During this time he undertook several additional fellowships, including hip-arthroscopy with Dr. Marc Philippon in Vail/USA, and was awarded the 2009 EFORT Travelling Fellowship in Norway and the 2010 ASG/AOA Travelling Fellowship in the US and Canada. In 2013, he was appointed head of the Orthopaedic Department and Musculoskeletal Unit of the Hospital of Biel, Switzerland. Dr. B�chler is a highly specialized hip surgeon and regular presenter at national and international conferences, and conducts hip-related research in close cooperation with the Hip Team of the University Hospital of Bern.

Professor Keel obtained his medical degree from the University of Z�rich, Switzerland after studying in Fribourg and Z�rich. After two years of research at the Division of Trauma Surgery at the University Hospital of Z�rich (Prof. Otmar Trentz) and completing the Postgraduate Course in Experimental Medicine and Biology of the Medical Faculty of the University of Z�rich, he fulfilled his general and trauma surgery residency at the Division of Trauma Surgery of the University of Z�rich and at two regional hospitals in M�nnedorf and B�lach. After his return to Z�rich he became trauma team leader at the Division of Trauma Surgery and later deputy clinic director. In 2004 Professor Keel completed two fellowships: in hip and pelvic surgery (Dr. Joel Matta) and in general trauma surgery (Prof. Demetrios Demetriades) in Los Angeles. In 2008 he changed to the University Hospital of Bern at the Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery (Prof. Klaus Siebenrock), where he specialized in hip, pelvic and spinal surgery. During this time he developed the “Pararectus approach”. He later became team leader for trauma, spine and pelvic surgery, and from 2012 to 2017 served as deputy clinic director. Furthermore he took part in the launch of the Clinic for Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at the Tiefenau Hospital in Bern. Since 2017 he works as consultant at the Trauma Center of the Hirslanden Hospital in Z�rich and remains senior consultant for complex pelvic and spinal surgeries at the University Hospital in Bern. Professor Keel conducts pelvis-related research in Bern and is a regular faculty member of important pelvic courses worldwide. In the period 2017/2018 he served as President of the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES).

Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.

Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).

Effetti del recesso

In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).

Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.

Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.

Il rimborso sar� effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.

Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finch� non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finch� non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.

Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a Books Puddle, New York, New York, U.S.A., senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volont� di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine � rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.

Eccezioni al diritto di recesso

Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:

La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.
