He has edited and revised Beaman's Commentary on the Gospel of John, Studies in Genesis: A Creation Commentary, and Personal Evangelism. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States and around the world. Dr. Spradlin serves as the president of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, a role he has held for twenty-five years. He is a member of Mid-America's church history faculty and chair of the evangelism department.

Later entering the ministry himself, he eventually served as a pastor and theologian on three continents: Australia, Europe, and North America. He ultimately served on the faculty of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary as a professor of historical theology and Christian history and as the director of the Ora Byram Allison Library.
