This volume is still in its original publisher's shrink wrap. 308pp. Quarter bound in brown paper over grey paper-covered boards, with gilt lettering and embellished with gold foil motif of Tuor. Colour frontispiece, eight colour paintings and fifteen pencil sketches specially commissioned for this edition from award-winning artist, Alan Lee. One red and black fold-out map (of Beleriand) drawn by Christopher Tolkien. Printed on high quality paper and complete with silk ribbon marker. Housed in a matching slipcase, also embellished with stamped gold foil motifs. Tall 8vo. Volume in fine condition. The slipcase is bumped along one rear edge. Informazioni sull’autore
J.R.R.Tolkien (1892-1973) was a distinguished academic, though he is best known for writing The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, plus other stories and essays. His books have been translated into over 80 languages and have sold many millions of copies worldwide.
Alan Lee was invited to illustrate the centenary edition of The Lord of the Rings, which led to further Tolkien editions, including The Hobbit and the three ‘Great Tales’: The Children of Húrin, Beren and Lúthien and The Fall of Gondolin. He worked as Conceptual Designer and Set Decorator on both Middle-earth film trilogies, receiving the Academy Award for Best Art Direction for his work on The Return of the King.
Christopher Tolkien, born on 24 November 1924, was the third son of J.R.R. Tolkien. As his father’s literary executor, he devoted over forty years to the publication of his father’s unpublished works, from The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales to Beren and Lúthien and The Fall of Gondolin, and within 'The History of Middle-earth' series, and was awarded the Bodley Medal for his services to literature in 2016. He died in January 2020 at the age of 95.

Need to Return a Book?
You may return any book for a full refund of the book price for any reason, provided you notify us by email within two weeks of our dispatching the book that you intend to return the book, stating your reasons, and that the book arrives back with us within 30 days of that notification. Outgoing and return shipping costs will only be refunded if there was an error on our part.
Dispatch
We dispatch domestic orders three times a week, so your book will be sent within two to three working days of reciept of payment. International orders are usually dispatched within five working days. Expediated orders (domestic and international) are sent next day.

Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).

Effetti del recesso

We use bespoke book boxes for most books; very small, awkwardly-shaped, multi-volume sets etc may have different packaging solutions to best protect them in transit. Our book boxes are made from recycled material and are fully recyclable. We are commited to minimising the environment impact of our book business and hope that you can support us in this endeavour.
