Provenance: from the Library of Congress, with two of their stamps on the front cover. "This short pamphlet written by T. M. Terkelsen. a Danish journalist/propagandist working in London during the Second World War, covers the events around 29th August 1943 - when the Danish government resigned in the face of German threats. The pamphlet begins with vivid descriptions of the actions of the Danish navy in sinking their vessels on 29th August, before explaining life under German occupation prior to 29th August, arguing that although 'peaceful' this made it even more threatening due to the possibility of complacency towards Nazisim. However the author defends the strength of Danish democracy and explains the hardening attitude of Danes towards Germans, providing anecdotal examples of Nazi terror. The pamphlet also introduces the aims and motivations of the Freedom Council. A key theme of the pamphlet is highlighting the strength of 'the Danish people' as a whole in their almost spontaneous resistance to occupation. Although 29th August 1943 was a government action, the author views it as a result of the will of the Danish population."--from a review on Goodreads.
