Good manners and etiquette are as important today as they were a hundred years ago, during the era of the Titanic and King Edward VII.

Inspired by her research into the manners, history, and customs of the culturally rich Edwardian era for her book, Tea on the Titanic,Penelope Carlevato presents a simple hands-on guide to help introduce children to proper etiquette and manners, as well as serve as a manual parents can reference for in-home guidance.

First Class Etiquette covers proper table manners for home and restaurants, special manners at the tea table, and the necessary skills to host a good tea party. With topics ranging from table settings, tea party invitations, and hostess etiquette, this charming book, illustrated by Carlevato's granddaughter, also offers recipes for popular tea party foods like orange scones, curried chicken tea sandwiches, and shortbread cookies.

Drawing from her more than twenty years of owning her own tea business, Penelope Carlevato's easy-to-follow book engages children and parents alike by not only pointing out the importance of manners and hospitality, but also portraying how fun practicing the art of etiquette can be.

A mother of three and grandmother of eleven, Penelope Carlevato was born in England and moved to the United States as a young girl. Tea has always been a way of life for her and her family, and she owned her own tea business for more than twenty years. She speaks internationally and writes on tea and annually takes groups on a tea tour of England. She has had a lifelong fascination with the era of the Titanic and is passionate about imparting the etiquette and manners of that bygone era to the younger generation.

The author of Tea on the Titanic and a columnist for Leading Hearts magazine, she has written for Focus on the Family, co-host of Cooking up Wonders and has been a contributing author in many compilation books. Carlevato is a registered nurse and currently lives in Colorado with her husband, Norm.
