Krishnamurti is a leading spiritual teacher of our century. In The First and Last Freedom he cuts away symbols and false associations in the search for pure truth, perfect freedom, and profound self-knowledge. Through discussions on suffering, fear, the nature of thought, and other topics, Krishnamurti’s quest becomes the reader’s, an undertaking of tremendous significance.

But how can we find freedom when the mind itself is a prison of the known?

• Choiceless Awareness: Krishnamurti reveals a state of passive, alert observation, free from the condemnation or justification that clouds perception.
• The Thinker and The Thought: Explore the illusion of the self by discovering that the observer is the observed—a realization that ends inner conflict.
• Freedom from Belief: Examine how all organized religions, systems, and dogmas create separation and prevent the direct experience of truth.
• Living in the Now: Understand the process of psychological time and how liberation is found not in becoming, but in the timeless reality of the present moment.

J. Krishnamurti (1895-1986) was a renowned spiritual teacher whose lectures and writings have inspired thousands. His works include On Mind and Thought, On Nature and the Environment, On Relationship, On Living and Dying, On Love and Lonliness, On Fear, and On Freedom.
