When the animals get together in the jungle, they discover that the noise they have been making is indeed music. Celebrated author and master storyteller Dylan Pritchett, past president of the National Association of Black Storytellers, weaves a whimsical tale that helps us discover that we all have music inside just waiting to come out when the time is right. This original award-winning story is based on the model of traditional African folktales. The rich illustrations painted by Erin Banks, enhance Pritchett's lyrical prose.
As the past president of the National Association of Black Storytellers, Dylan Pritchett is dedicated to passing on the rich African oral tradition of storytelling. In addition to live performances, Dylan has provided narration and served as a performer and consultant for a number of historic broadcast documentaries, including the recent PBS program, “View from the Mountaintop,” the Thomas Jefferson biography.
Native to upstate New York, Erin Bennett Banks is a nationally published illustrator whose children’s books have gained wide recognition. She holds an MFA in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design, and a BA in studio art from Houghton College. Banks has illustrated children’s books for Candlewick Press, August House, and Carol Rhoda Books/Lerner, earning recognition as one of the New York Times’ Best Children’s Books.
