You walked into the shop unprepared. Unclear on what you wanted. Unaware of how permanence actually works. Swayed by convenience instead of quality.
This book exists to prevent that.
What This Book Is NOT:
- A style guide telling you what to get or where to put it
- Another generic list of "tattoo aftercare tips" you can find anywhere online
- A coffee table book of pretty pictures
Inside, you'll discover:
- Why your motivation matters more than your design — and how to tell if you're acting on impulse or real intention
- The one-year test that has saved the author from multiple tattoos that sounded good at the time but would've caused real grief
- Why artist research beats design research every time — and the red flags that should send you walking out the door
- What "healed work" looks like versus fresh ink, and why artists who only show fresh photos may be hiding something
- The real pain breakdown by body area (including the one spot the author will never get tattooed again)
- Why cheap tattoos cost more later — in money, time, and regret
- How tattoos actually age — not whether they'll change, but whether you chose well enough that the change stays acceptable
The difference is knowledge and preparation.
This book was written so you can walk into the experience prepared—instead of learning every lesson the hard way.
Choose well. Heal properly. Accept the permanence. The rest is just living.
