The reader first meets Frankie, the winsome narrator, in the birth canal on the day JFK is shot. Her Irish father is in the bar, drinking away his sorrow at the president’s murder. Her Italian mother, who is delighted to finally have a daughter, chooses an Italian name for her, Francesca. But Francesca’s four rowdy older brothers soon adopt the nickname Frankie, as they look out for her in their own boyish way—even though sometimes their brand of childcare results in her getting a couple of teeth knocked out or a split lip.
We follow Frankie and her four older brothers as they deal with their father’s repeated drunken bouts of temper and many other tragedies that fate sends their way. But no matter what happens to them, they stick together through thick and thin. They play and laugh together; they fight together; they betray, wound, and mistreat one another; they miscommunicate or don’t communicate at all. It’s a testament to Trish’s talent that she is able to be so articulate about characters who are often unable to articulate their true feelings to each other. Frankie’s father tells his wife’s pillow how much he loves her but is unable to say it to the woman herself. Frankie’s brother never really talks about his sexuality. And Frankie herself hides a dark secret from her family for years.
This is a rough-and-tumble story, where love is messy, and the characters frequently work things out by wrestling or punching or smashing something to pieces. But ultimately, each family member knows that they are a part of this organic unit, for better or worse, and each embraces it in his or her own way. Love triumphs and healing takes place in a well-earned, truly happy ending. The reader will cheer Frankie on, every step of the way.

Trish Doolan started acting and modeling at the age of three, and graced many magazine covers as a child model. Trish moved to Los Angeles from New York by the age of 19 and began making the rounds as a working actress in Hollywood, in commercials, television and film.
A versatile, accomplished storyteller, Trish Doolan is an acclaimed screenwriter, playwright, director and actor. She wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film April’s Shower, which was released by Regent Films and promptly won four best picture awards, two in the States and two in Europe. The New York Times called April’s Shower highly “enjoyable” and “refreshingly volatile.” The San Francisco Chronicle deemed it “expansive, talky and zany,” and called Trish’s storytelling “impressive.”
Raised in Queens, New York and one of six children, Trish’s strong Irish/Italian family provided much of the inspiration for her first novel, Me & Five Guys. The Running with Scissors-like Me and Five Guys is based on her real-life experiences coming of age. Her second novel, The Singing Gardener, is a classic tale of forbidden love and the magic that occurs when we follow our hearts.
One of Trish’s many screenplays, Me & My Cannoli’s had been optioned by prolific Hollywood Exec Producer Lucas Foster (Mr.& Mrs. Smith, Crimson Tide, Man on Fire) Trish recently took this project back into her hands as a HER-I-CAN ENTERTAINMENT property. Two of her other screenplays, Dancing Fool and Next Stop are currently in pre-production stages. In late 2007 Trish wrote, directed, produced and starred in the short film, What’s True; a controversial film posing the question… while innocent people are wrongly convicted and spending time in prison for crimes they did not commit “What is true?” The film was selected to participate in the Cannes Film Festival Shorts program.

Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.
Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).
Per rispettare il termine di recesso, è sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso stesso.
Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).
Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.
Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.
Il rimborso sarà effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.
Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finché non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finché non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.
Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a Biblios, frankfurt am main, Germany, senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volontà di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine è rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.
Eccezioni al diritto di recesso
Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:
- La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
- La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.
